Seven Stations, Nine Contract Cities

Nine San Diego County cities contract with the Sheriff's Office instead of running their own police department. Seven stations cover them, because North Coastal Station serves three cities — Del Mar, Encinitas, and Solana Beach — from a single building. Every other station serves one city plus, in several cases, a large unincorporated area around it.

A patrol station is not a jail. Nobody is housed there and nobody visits there. Every Sheriff's arrest is transported into a county detention facility for booking, and the bond is filed at the facility physically holding the person — which is the single most common thing families get wrong at 2 in the morning.

We have not confirmed courthouse assignments for any of these stations, and we are not going to publish one we have not verified with the San Diego Superior Court. Call us with a name and date of birth and we will confirm the real court date and location from the booking record.
