Central Women's Jail — Female Housing After Intake
Central Women's Jail sits on the same downtown Santa Ana complex as the IRC and Central Men's Jail — the county's main female housing facility after IRC processing.
Because Orange County concentrates female custody downtown rather than at a separate satellite facility, a woman arrested anywhere in the county is usually booked at the IRC and then housed a few dozen yards away. That is a genuinely simpler picture than neighboring Los Angeles County, where women are routed to a dedicated facility in Lynwood, miles from the intake center.
Lower-risk female inmates can also be housed at the Musick facility in Irvine, which takes both men and women. Confirming which of the two applies is the difference between a bond filed correctly the first time and a wasted drive.

Are men and women held in the same building?
They are held in separate facilities on the same Flower Street complex — Central Men's Jail and Central Women's Jail, with the Intake Release Center between them. The address is shared; the operations are not.
Can a woman be housed somewhere other than Central Women's Jail?
Yes. The James A. Musick Facility in Irvine houses both male and female inmates with lower-risk, non-violent charges, so a classification decision can send someone there instead of downtown.
How do I schedule a visit?
Through the same line as Central Men's Jail: (714) 647-4543, Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 4 PM, at least 24 hours ahead. Visits run Friday through Monday, 8 AM to 4 PM, by appointment only.
Can bail be posted overnight or on a weekend?
Yes. The county jail system operates around the clock and a licensed agent can start a bond at any hour. Release processing still takes time, and it is generally slower overnight, on weekends and on holidays because fewer staff are working the release side.
Why did my inmate search come back empty right after the arrest?
Because the booking record has not caught up yet. Someone arrested by a city police department may sit at that department for hours before transport to the IRC, and the county record only appears once intake begins. Call with a full legal name and date of birth and we will keep checking.
Does the Sheriff's Department recommend a bail agent?
