How Fresno County's Court System Actually Works
Unlike Los Angeles County's 36-plus locations spread across a dozen judicial districts, or even Orange County's and San Diego County's regional branch courts, Fresno County Superior Court operates every single one of its locations within the city of Fresno itself. None of the county's other 14 cities — including Clovis, the county's second-largest city — hosts its own branch courthouse. Wherever an arrest happens in Fresno County, the case is heard in Fresno.
That makes this the simplest courthouse answer of any county in this network. It also means the drive is real: an arrest in Coalinga, Huron or Orange Cove still ends up downtown, and so does the custody. All four county jail facilities are in downtown Fresno too.
The main courthouse is physically connected to the jail complex by the same underground tunnel system that links Main Jail, North Annex and West Annex — so an in-custody defendant reaches a courtroom without ever crossing a public street. Departments 95 and 96 go a step further: those courtrooms are at the jail's own address.
What the court does not publish is a case-by-case assignment between its five Fresno locations. General criminal matters run through the main courthouse and infractions through "M" Street, but the courthouse printed on the notice to appear is the authoritative answer for any specific case, and we will not print a guess in place of it.

Two Fresno Addresses That Are Not County Courthouses
Robert E. Coyle U.S. Courthouse
The Robert E. Coyle U.S. Courthouse in Fresno is part of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California (Fresno Division). It is a federal courthouse, not a Fresno County Superior Court location, and federal matters do not run on the county bail schedule — federal release is decided by a magistrate judge under the federal Bail Reform Act. If the paperwork says United States District Court, none of the five county locations below is the right building.
Archives — 1963 E Street
Fresno County Superior Court also lists an Archives location at 1963 E Street. It reads as a records and storage facility rather than a place where hearings are held, so it is not listed as a courthouse in this directory. If a document sends you to 1963 E Street, it is a records errand, not a court date.
