the Juvenile Delinquency Courthouse — The county's dedicated juvenile delinquency court

Juvenile Delinquency is Fresno County's dedicated juvenile court, opened in July 2009 — the county equivalent of Los Angeles's Edmund D. Edelman Children's Courthouse, San Diego's Juvenile Court and Alameda's Juvenile Justice Center.

This is not a standard adult criminal courthouse, and the usual bail bonds framework does not apply here the same way. A minor held in juvenile custody is generally not released by posting a bond — release is a decision the court makes at a detention hearing.

We would rather say that plainly than take a payment for something that will not work. If the case has been filed in adult court, that is a different situation entirely and the standard framework applies — call us and we will tell you which one you are in.

Hours & Contact

Court Calendar

Monday to Friday, excluding court holidays. Departments start at different times — the notice to appear prints the department and the time.

Public Counter

Weekday business hours, and they are not identical at every Fresno location. Call or check fresno.courts.ca.gov before driving downtown for a filing.

Weekends & Holidays

Closed. No filings, no counter, no hearings.

Jail Release Window

The Fresno County jails process bail around the clock, including every hour this courthouse is dark.

Contact

  • Court website: fresno.courts.ca.gov — the authoritative source for juvenile department information
  • Adult cases: If the case is in adult court, the bond is filed at the downtown jail complex, 24 hours a day
  • 3333 E American Avenue, Suite A, Fresno, CA 93725
Call (213) 510-2764
  • A closed courthouse does not stop a release. A bond posted at 2am on a Sunday is posted — the courthouse is simply not part of that transaction.
  • If someone is arrested Friday evening and no bond is posted, the first appearance generally waits for the next court day. That is the single biggest reason families post before the hearing rather than after it.
  • Court holidays follow the court's own list, not the federal one. Check fresno.courts.ca.gov before assuming a Monday is open.

What We Have Not Confirmed

  • Every Fresno County Superior Court location sits inside the city of Fresno — no other city in the county hosts a branch courthouse. What the court does not publish is a case-by-case assignment between its Fresno locations, so the courthouse printed on the notice to appear remains the authoritative answer for any specific case.
  • This is a specialized juvenile venue. Nothing on this page should be read as a promise that a bond can secure a minor's release.

What Families Say

Our son was booked downtown on a Saturday and the courthouse was closed until Monday. They posted the bond that night and explained exactly which courthouse the case would be heard at.

Marisol R. · Fresno County, CA

I had no idea the jail and the courthouse were two different places in two different cities. One phone call and they handled all of it. No office visit, everything signed from my kitchen table.

David K. · Fresno County, CA

Straight answers about what it would cost before I paid anything, and they put the court date in writing so we could not miss it. That mattered more than anything else.

Parking & Directions

Getting There

3333 E American Avenue, Suite A is southeast of downtown Fresno, away from the main court cluster on Van Ness and O Street. Confirm the department before driving.

Security Screening

Every Fresno County Superior Court location is a secured building — everyone passes through weapons screening at the entrance. Arrive early enough that the line is not the reason a hearing is missed.

What To Bring

Photo ID, the notice to appear or case number, and any paperwork the court sent. If you are meeting us to sign bond paperwork, we tell you exactly what we need before you leave the house.

Confirm Before You Drive

The court's own site at fresno.courts.ca.gov is the authoritative source for the next date and department. A third-party records site is not. Confirm there, or call us and we will confirm it for you.

Departments & Case Types

Detention Hearings

Whether a minor stays in custody is decided at a detention hearing, not by posting a bail amount.

Delinquency Petitions

Juvenile matters proceed on a petition rather than a criminal complaint, and the vocabulary of the process is different throughout.

Cases Filed In Adult Court

When a case is filed in adult court, the adult framework applies: there is a bail amount, the bond is filed at the jail, and the premium is 10% with as low as 1% down for qualifying cosigners.

How To Post Bail For A the Juvenile Delinquency Courthouse Case

The steps below describe adult bail in Fresno County. They apply to a juvenile matter only if the case has been filed in adult court.

Bail Is Set At Booking

Under California Penal Code §1269b, the county bail schedule sets an amount at booking, before anyone sees a judge. That is the figure a bond is written against.

Penal Code §1269b

The Court Can Change It

Penal Code §1270.1 requires a hearing before release on certain serious charges, and the judge can raise, lower, or set conditions at arraignment.

Penal Code §1270.1

The Premium Is Regulated

Insurance Code §1800 governs bail premiums in California. Ten percent of the bond, with as low as 1% down for qualifying cosigners on a written plan.

Insurance Code §1800

Ability To Pay Matters

In re Humphrey (2021) requires courts to consider whether a person can actually afford the amount set, and Article I §12 governs when bail can be denied outright.

In re Humphrey (2021)

Bail can be denied entirely in a narrow set of cases under Article I, §12 of the California Constitution. In every other case there is an amount, and an amount can be bonded.

Nearby Jails — Where The Bond Is Posted

A bond is filed at the facility physically holding the defendant, not at the courthouse. In Fresno County that is a Sheriff's Office detention facility in downtown Fresno — Main Jail, North Annex, West Annex or the Satellite Jail — where booking and release run around the clock.

Fresno County Main Jail

1225 M Street, Fresno, CA 93721

The anchor of the downtown custody complex, built in 1989 and connected by underground tunnel to North Annex and West Annex — and to the main courthouse itself. This is where most Fresno County bonds are filed.

Fresno County Main Jail bail bonds guide

North Annex Jail

1265 M Street, Fresno, CA 93721

Built in 1993, immediately beside Main Jail and connected by the same tunnel. Departments 95 and 96 sit at this same address.

North Annex Jail bail bonds guide

West Annex Jail

2208 Merced Street, Fresno, CA

Opened in December 2024, replacing the South Annex Jail that closed on December 14, 2024 after operating since 1947. If older paperwork says South Annex, this is the current building.

West Annex Jail bail bonds guide

Satellite Jail

110 "M" Street, Fresno, CA 93721

A separate minimum-security facility about two miles south of the downtown complex — real, distinct, and not connected by the tunnel system.

the Juvenile Delinquency Courthouse Bail FAQs

Can I bail my child out of juvenile hall?

Generally no. Juvenile delinquency does not run on the adult bail schedule — release is a decision the court makes at a detention hearing. We will tell you that straight rather than take a payment for something that will not work.

What if the case was filed in adult court?

Then the adult framework applies: there is a bail amount, the bond is filed at the downtown Fresno jail complex, and the premium is 10% of the bond with as low as 1% down for qualifying cosigners.

How do I confirm my case is really at this courthouse?

The notice to appear names the courthouse and the department. If you do not have it, the court's own site at fresno.courts.ca.gov is the authoritative source. Fresno County Superior Court does not publish a simple city-by-city criminal assignment list, so the paperwork governs.

What does a bail bond cost in Fresno County?

California bail premiums are regulated under Insurance Code §1800 and run 10% of the face amount of the bond. Qualifying cosigners can start with as low as 1% down on a written payment plan.

Should we wait for the hearing to see if the judge lowers bail?

Usually not. Waiting means days in custody downtown for a reduction that may not come. Posting first means the defendant is home for that hearing — and if the judge does reduce bail, they were released for the days in between rather than sitting in a cell.

What happens if a court date here is missed?

The court can forfeit the bond and issue a bench warrant the same day. Under Penal Code §1305 there is a limited statutory window, generally 180 days with possible extensions, to return the defendant to court before forfeiture becomes a judgment against the cosigner — call us immediately rather than waiting.

Is the courthouse open at night or on weekends?

No. Fresno County Superior Court runs a weekday calendar and closes for court holidays. The county jails do not. A bond can be posted at any hour, and release does not require the courthouse to be open.
